American Muffler & Trailer Hitch was started in 1972 by Ed Marcom. Dale & Smitty Price bought the business in 1988. At that time, the business was located at 393 Marsh St. (same site as Fast Eddie’s Car Wash), but moved to it’s current location, corner of Broad and High Sts. in San Luis Obispo, in November 1990.

Mike Brown has been with American Muffler & Trailer Hitch since 2001. He started out as a technician and has been our manager since 2006. He takes pride in his customer service and will do EVERYTHING to make sure you are happy with the work we do for you.

Dale Price served in the U.S. Navy and is a member of the American Legion, Post 66 and Rotary San Luis Obispo. He and Smitty live in San Luis Obispo with their rat terrier, Trina. Dale is also a old car buff and can be seen driving his 1941 flatbed pick up around town.

Smitty takes care of the paperwork, and although rarely at the shop, is busy with her own business, PricelessCruising.com, two quilt guilds and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Scott has worked on and off for American Muffler & Trailer Hitch for the past few years. He has come a long way and enjoys doing the weird stuff.
